Meet Avery Kalbas.
Q: What High School do you attend?
Please tell us about your current plans after high school and what inspired you to choose this path? I plan to attend Augusta University and major in Biology. I plan to enter the healthcare field! I was apart of the healthcare pathway offered at my high school and this program allowed me to see healthcare hands! That is why I am choosing Augusta University! It accommodates their students with amazing healthcare programs!
Please tell us a little bit about your family. I live with mama and my brother! We also have a dog and her name is Hazel!
Q: What are couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
A: My favorite restaurants are Chick-fil-A, Panera Bread, and Chicken Salad Chick!
Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in our community?
A: I am not sure!
Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
A: I would travel to Hawaii because it is such a beautiful place and I have always wanted to see it.
Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
A: My favorite movie is the new Beauty and the Beast!! My favorite TV shows are One Tree Hill and Outer Banks.
Q: What’s the best advice you ever received from a teacher? Who was the teacher?
A: I am not sure.
Q: What is your go to band / singer when you cant decide what to listen to?
A: The Fray!
Q: If you could choose anyone to have lunch with, who would you choose? Why? And where, locally, would you meet for this lunch?
A: I would chose to have lunch with Sadie Robertson! She has an amazing platform that she uses to spread the good news of God and I would love to just sit down and talk with her!! I would want to meet at Baby Jo’s in Appling!
Q: What is your favorite thing about our community?
A: I love the small town of Harlem!! Everybody knows everybody! We all look out for each other!
Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
A: I see myself working at my dream job! Whether I become a physical therapist, speech therapist, or occupational therapist! I hope to be so in love with my job that it won’t feel like I’m working.
Q: What show are you binge-watching right now?
A: I am binge-watching Outer Banks right now on Netflix.
Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
A: My favorite month is December! Christmas brings me so much joy.
Q: Who inspires you to be better?
A: My mom inspires me to be better! She is ALWAYS right!! Even though I don’t like to listen, I soon find myself going back to what she has told me! She is my best friend!! She knows me better than I know myself.
Q: If you could go back over your entire school career, what is one thing you would do differently?
A: I would have gone to every single sporting event!!
Q: Who or what do you miss the most right now?
A: I miss seeing and talking to people!
Q: What’s the first thing you want to do when this quarantine is over?
A: I want to go on a fun shopping day with my friends and mom!
