Tina Nance, self-employed

Tina Nance

Gerilyn: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

Tina: I got tired of working for someone else, and I decided that I would be happier working for myself. I am self-employed. I work for a company called Shipt, and it’s like Instacart. I deliver groceries to people. I do Uber and Lift, and I also do Grubhub, which is food delivery.

Gerilyn: What is your favorite restaurant in Evans, and what do you love there?

Tina: My favorite restaurant would be Mcalister’s, and I like their potatoes.

Gerilyn: How long have you gone to church in Evans?

Tina: It’s been about seven and a half years now.

Gerilyn: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Evans? Who would you like to see nominated as a Face of Evans, Georgia?

Tina: I would have to say the most interesting person is our pastor, Carolyn Moore. She’s very interesting, and she’s probably one of the smartest people that I know. I have no preference for a candidate, but I guess I would choose her.

Gerilyn: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be, and why?

Tina: Italy. It’s been something that I’ve always wanted to see since I was a kid.

Gerilyn: What is your favorite movie, or what is the first movie you remember seeing in a theatre?

Tina: In the theatre I’ve seen the movie Little recently, and it was so funny.

Gerilyn: What advice would you give to a crowd of people?

Tina: Follow your gut instinct. If it doesn’t feel right, it probably isn’t.

Gerilyn: What is something on your bucket list?

Tina: On my bucket list, one of the top things I’m working on is to see every major city in the United States. I started with one of the best, which is New York City. It’s amazing.

Gerilyn: What is your favorite music or three bands you would like to see, whether they’re dead or alive?

Tina: I listen to different types of genres. My top three favorites would be Journey, Mariah Carey, and the Beach Boys. I did get to see them. They put on a phenomenal concert.

Gerilyn: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Evans?

Tina: I like that business called Sugar Booger. It used to be called Utopia, but that was their former name. It’s a yogurt place. They do so many different things. They do yogurt, homemade fudge, and edible cookie dough. It’s really good.

Gerilyn: Choosing anyone alive and a non-relative: with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? Where in Evans would you have lunch?

Tina: Heather Hill. We’re always eating lunch together, and we usually go to either Panera or Mcalister’s.

Gerilyn: Where do you see yourself in five or ten years?

Tina: Finally finished with school in five years. Getting my license as a social worker. Hopefully in ten years, I will have my own practice. I want to see patients with mental health issues and substance abuse. And even bariatrics, I want to specialize in all three.

Gerilyn: Even for friends or family, what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

Tina: Recently, I took up the hobby of painting, and I’ve really enjoyed it.

Gerilyn: What three words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word “home?”

Tina: Peace, comfort, and joy.
