Lydia Piper, Retired Media Specialist

Please tell us a little bit about your family. “I am the oldest of 6 children .The family is scattered in Louisiana, Tennessee, and Colorado.”

Please tell us about your current career. What led you to it and what Do you love most about what you do? “Retired media specialist.  Was formerly an elementary teacher who went back to school to get my masters degree.  Loved to read and share books with kids.”

What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community? “Chik-fil-A, Cracker Barrel.”

How long have you lived or worked in our community? “Nearly 50 years.”

If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why? “London because I am part English and have not been there.”

What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows? “When Calls The Heart”

What advice would you give to people? “Be kind to others and forgiving.”

What is something on your bucket list? “Go to Western Canada and the national parks”

What is your go to band when you cant decide what to listen to? “Bee Gees”

What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community? “Gabriel’s coffee shop”

If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch? “Tom Selleck, I have been in love with him most of my life because he is very good looking, conservative and a good man.”

What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community? “The friendly people”

Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years? “Right here at home enjoying retirement.”

(Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you? “I can be quiet and listen!”

What is the most beautiful place you have ever been? “Hawaii”

Favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar? “March-the weather is mild and things are starting to bloom.  Don’t like holidays much.  There are too many expectations that are usually dashed.”

What would you rate a 10 out of 10? “Finding your true love.”

Who inspires you to be better? “Glenda”

What is one or two of your favorite smells? “Gardenia, magnolia.”

Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME? “Comfortable, safe.”
