Tevin Williams

The Faces of Evans

Meet Tevin Williams.

Please tell us a little bit about your family. I have a beautiful family consisting of my gorgeous wife, Taylor, my charismatic son, Beau, and my baby girl that could be born at any time now! They challenge me in so many ways to be more of the man that I strive to be.

Please tell us about your current career. Thing you love most about what you do. I currently work in the warehouse at East Central Regional Hospital (a hospital for people with developmental disabilities) providing many of the supplies for our staff and individuals (patients). I’m also one of the hospital’s mail couriers. Our job allows us to go virtually everywhere on campus and interact with hundreds of people. This has given me countless opportunities to minister and make an impact beyond the work for Jesus.

Q: What inspired you or led you to your current career?

A: To be honest, I never planned on working in healthcare. I had just transitioned out of a bad job and it felt like the Lord dropped this job in front of me after I prayed about what to do. While I know that this isn’t my final career, I’ve been certain that the Lord put me here for this season.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?

A: Miyabi Jr and Poblanos for sure. P.S: While this is a whole story, Publix subs for the win!

Q: How long have you lived or worked in Evans?

A: While I’ve never lived in Evans, I’ve felt like a part of this community ever since my family put down roots at our church, Mosaic. So I’ve been in this community for almost 7 years.

Q: Who is the most interesting person you’ve met here in Evans?

A: Funny enough, it didn’t take much time to think about this. My pastor and friend, Carolyn Moore. She is a great friend that will be with you in your worst of moments, but still challenge you to improve. However, she has one of the best senses of humor I’ve ever seen. I just love her. Plus, how many pastors do you know that roller skate???

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be? And why?

A: Well we’ll wait until the Corona calms down (I had to go there), but after that I would love to visit Italy one day. Television has always made it look so beautiful and I want to see if it matches up. I also want to eat the most authentic version of one of my favorite foods.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?

A: Space Jam will always be a classic to me. As a lifelong Michael Jordan and Looney Tunes fan, I will always take the time to watch it like I’ve never seen it before. Show-wise, I love the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air.

Q: What advice would you give a crowd of people?

A: Don’t fear living in the moment especially with light-hearted moments. Don’t be afraid to consider taking risks that could lead to a great positive outcome. Overthinking these things will lead to a lifetime of fear and regret.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?

A: I want to make music for movies and/or television one day. Maybe Disney?…

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?

A: My man Lecrae. Pretty much any gospel rap.

Q: What current / former local business makes you the most nostalgic about Evans?

A: I have vivid memories of going to Funsville Amusement Park off of Jimmie Dyess Parkway. Though it’s no longer what it used to be, I’ll never forget the fun I’ve had on the go-carts, arcade, etc.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?

A: Kevin Burgess, also known as KB (gospel rap artist). I look up to him as a fellow artist and admire his passion for sharing the gospel through his music and just in general. He seems like a person you can have a conversation with for hours and be so encouraged afterwards. We’d go to Starbucks.

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about Evans?

A:I love the intentionality of planning events for the community throughout the year especially at the Lady A Amphitheater Park. It sets up numerous chances to connect with people you otherwise may never see.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 or 10 years?

A: Career-wise, leading a congregation as their minister of music. Our family will probably be even bigger and we’ll be homeowners with no debt.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?

A: In fourth grade, I was the runner-up in the spelling bee competition at my elementary school.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?

A: I’d say Helen, Georgia. The mountains and other scenery are beautiful no matter the time of year. It’s always peaceful to spend time up there.

Q: If you were cast in a movie and could choose your costar, who would it be?

A: Will Smith.

Q: What is your favorite month? holiday? and best single day on the calendar?

A: All of the summertime months. Favorite holiday is Christmas. Christmas is probably the best day also. It’s so warm due to its true meaning and the memories I get to create with the people I love.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?

A: Besides Jesus? Amazon.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?

A: My family. The men I personally know and don’t know that strive to be the man of God that changes the world like myself.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?

A: Any Italian food and anything tropical scented.

Q: If a movie was made of your life, who would you want to play you?

A: Tequan Richmond.

Q: What 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?

A: The place where you can be fully open without fear. The place where God’s peace is. The best version of us lives there.
