Michelle Doolittle

I am an elementary special education teacher. This is my first year teaching, I work at Hephzibah Elementary School and I love working there.

Q: Please tell us a little bit about your family.
I am married and we have seven children between us. We live in Parksville, SC with four out of the seven children.

Q: Please tell us about your current, past, or future career. What do you love most about what you do?
I have always worked with children. I used to be a photographer, I also have worked in some type of child care most of my life. I obtained my BA late in my life and I so thankful I did. It wasn’t easy but so worth it. I love working with children. I honestly believe it is my God given talent. I love working with kids and helping them learn.

Q: What are a couple of your favorite restaurants in our community?
I love many different restaurants it is so hard to pick .

Q: How long have you lived or worked in our community?
I was raised most of my life in Aiken county.

Q: If you could travel anywhere in the world right now, where would it be and why?
I would love to go to Jerusalem and see where my ancestors came from.

Q: What is one of your favorite movies? TV shows?
My favorite movie is The Notebook, I am such a romantic. I must say that I do not really have a favorite TV show.

Q: What advice would you give to people?
My advice is that all children can learn, you just have to figure out how and make it happen. Every child deserves the chance to be taught.

Q: What is something on your bucket list?
I honestly would love to go to another country. However I love my life and I don’t have regrets.

Q: What is your go to band when you can’t decide what to listen to?
My go to band is more of a type of music genre. I love listening to praise and worship music, it helps me stay grounded.

Q: What current or former local business makes you the most nostalgic about our community?
I love all the historical buildings in our area.

Q: If you could choose anyone that is alive today and not a relative; with whom would you love to have lunch? Why? And where locally would y’all meet for this lunch?
I must say that I would enjoy meeting Beth Moore. She has inspired me to be better and helped me during times of struggle by listening to her speak. She has a very strong Christian faith. I would love to have lunch at the lake .

Q: What is your favorite thing or something unique about our community?
I love all the historical buildings in our area. I love learning about History.

Q: Where do you see yourself in 5 to 10 years?
I see myself with a Masters in Teaching degree and still teaching elementary kids.

Q: (Even for friends or family), what is something interesting that most people don’t know about you?
I believe something interesting about me that not everyone knows is that I write short stories and poems, and one day would love to publish a book.

Q: What is the most beautiful place you have ever been?
The most beautiful place I have been at this point in my life is sitting on the beach watching the sunrise.

Q: Favorite month? favorite holiday? and best single day on the calendar?
I love December because it is the month that most of our family is able to get together. My favorite holiday is Thanksgiving, because it is a time that we get together and share with everyone what we are thankful for.

Q: What would you rate a 10 out of 10?
I would rate the love of Christ a 10 out of 10. His love is always perfect and never ending no matter what we do.

Q: Who inspires you to be better?
Who inspires me to be better is the Holy Spirit that lives within me.

Q: What is one or two of your favorite smells?
I love the smell of cookies baking and I love the smell of rain. The smell of cookies satisfies my taste senses and the smell of rain is relaxing.

Q: Finally, what 3 words or phrases come to mind when you think of the word HOME?
The three words that come to my mind when I think of home are safe, love and family.
